Overwatering

Overwatering is probably the most common mistake that will kill your succulent. Many of us are used to plants that need to be watered often and like to hang out in rich, moist soil. But, succulents are desert plants, and like periods of drought between waterings. If your succulent has been overwatered, you may notice signs of root rot such as a black or mushy stem, clear outer leaves, or black inner leaves. Sadly, overwatering is often deadly, and if you see these signs, your plant is likely too far gone to be rescued. But, now that you know what went wrong, you'll be able to properly water your next succulent.
